What the Church needs today is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use — men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men — men of prayer.

Growing Strong In Prayer
I was fortunate to be raised in a praying culture. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that the depth of your prayer life will determine the depth of your entire life. If we are weak in prayer, it matters not how strong we are elsewhere.
Every issue we are currently facing could change if we approached prayer correctly. Prayer is not the batting cage. It’s not where we “gear up” for the real thing. Oswald Chambers put it best saying, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work.”
When the day comes that everything we do flows out of the place of prayer the Church will shine like a city set on a hill. It’s time to return to our knees and let our voices be heard in heaven. Here are three simple ways to take your prayer life to a new level.

Pray the written Word
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 NKJV
When you find yourself in a dark situation, use the Word that lights your path as your prayer. For example, if you know someone who is fighting sickness turn to God’s Word. Pray the promises. Say, “God Your Word says You were wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon You, and by Your stripes we are healed. I call my friend’s health into alignment with your word. Father, I ask that healing manifest in their body right now in Jesus name!” (See Isaiah 53:5) Pray the promises!

Pray the spoken word
The Apostle Paul gave his spiritual son this instruction, “This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare…” (See 1 Timothy 1:18 NKJV) This is another powerful weapon you can take to the place of prayer. For example, I have had several very specific words given to me saying that I would see an awakening take place in my generation. So, when I see things happening among millennials that seem contrary to the words I’ve been given I will pray something like this, “God, you gave me a word that I would see an awakening in my generation. Yet, they seem to be heading further and further away from that promise. So I ask You to move on your word and save this generation from the grip of sin and self, in Jesus name.”

Pray in the Spirit
Paul wrote that we should live our lives, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.” Ephesians 6:18 NKJV. The book of Jude also instructs “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…” Praying in the Spirit was an intricate part of the early Church. Consequently, they prayed with power and constantly saw the hand of God at work. The Spirit of God knows the will of God. When you pray in the spirit you are praying God’s will.
