I’ve heard a lot of talk from the Christian community through the years about “being real.” My understanding of what most people mean when they talk about “being real” has lead me to one conclusion…being real is overrated.

When some talk about being real it seems that they are referring to instances such as…

Another preacher cussing in his sermon.

Another preacher throwing down shots.

Another preacher wrapped up in sin.

But it’s ok because they’re “just being real.”

What?!

Dear Christian,

Our world doesn’t need you to be what they consider “real”. They need you to be something that has nearly been forgotten—they need you to be holy. They need you to be set apart. They need you to demonstrate that Jesus can still turn sinners into saints. Enough of “culturally relevant Christianity.” We are not living for the applause of the world. We’re living for the glory of the King!
