Before there can ever be a great revival there must be a great revealing. At some point, we have to take off the blinders and address the fact that we have been faltering between lovers. It’s time to quit kidding ourselves. American Christianity isn’t working. It never has and it never will. We need to get back to the Bible!
Before we can tackle the atrocities of society, we must tackle the atrocities of the saints. We say that we belong to the Lord, yet we love what He hates. We wink at sin. We ignore injustice. We’re enamored with with the same godless entertainment as the lost world around us. How long until someone stands up? How long until God’s people say enough is enough?
Jesus is jealous for a spotless bride. He is jealous for a people who will surrender their man-made utopia and pursue Him with unreserved passion.
It’s as though the Apostle Paul was peering into our day when he penned 2 Corinthians 6, saying, “How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever? And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.” (NLT) Is this not the hour in which we are living? It’s time to turn the tide.
When passivity runs rampant in the church, the powers of hell run rampant in the world. We need an awakening! It starts with you and me. Before we can confront the corruption in culture, we must address the complacency in the church. Heaven is looking for those who have laid down their lives. We’re called to live the life of a dead man.
