We’ve Got A Problem

Our generation has a problem. We are chronic quitters. A recent survey clearly proves this sad truth. Bloomberg posted an article stating that only 29% of millennials plan to stay at their job for more than 5 years. Now, I’m not writing about work. I’m writing about the mentality that fuels this kind of statistic.

As we inch further and further into this month, the zeal we had just a few weeks ago, at the beginning of this year when we were setting all of our resolutions, seems to be drying up. Is the honeymoon phase gone? Are you thinking about going back on some of your commitments? Don’t be a Chronic Quitter. Vince Lombardi said it best when he said, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.”

3 Times You’ll Be Most Tempted To Quit

Jesus said in Luke 9:62 NKJV, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Are things getting uncomfortable? Let the blisters turn to callouses. You cannot quit! We are most tempted to quit when…

  1. When the going gets tough

“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Psalms 50:15 NKJV

In life you will not be rewarded for trying. You will only be rewarded for succeeding. At The Lift, Pastor Keith recently said, “You will never grow beyond your ability to deal with pain.” You may be going through a tough spot right now, but keep going! The secret to succeeding, even in the tough times, is to take every care, great and small, to the Lord.

2. When things don’t turn out the way we hope

“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.” Proverbs 13:12 NKJV

Everyone gets disappointed when the outcome does not meet anticipation. If you’re facing this, it doesn’t mean you’re bad, it means you’re human. It’s called life. But I want to challenge you amidst the frustration. Don’t let what has not happened, keep you from what could happen. Keep going!

3. When things don’t come quick enough

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.” 2 Peter 3:9 NLT

There is one thing you must know if you’re battling with this one. God’s view on timing is much different than ours. I mean, c’mon ,He’s been “coming quickly” for 2000 years. If you have a promise from God that you are believing for, don’t give up! He is faithful! He will fulfill His promise!

Endure The Pain

Don’t throw in the towel. You are not a Chronic Quitter! If you will keep pressing, there is a day fast approaching that is worth the pain you are currently facing. Lean into God’s grace and keep running the race!
