“Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions.” Deuteronomy 32:11 NLT

Tap Into Potential

We are in a season of great stirring. Have you felt it? As believers, there should always be a drive within us for more of what God is doing. However, there are seasons where a fresh wind blows over our lives fanning the flames of desire. It is what the book of Acts calls “times of refreshing”…but it rarely feels that way at first.

Often times we mistake the winds of change and refreshing for the winds of adversity and trial. What you’re facing may be uncomfortable and it may be challenging, but the purpose is not to hopelessly break you. The purpose is to shake you out of stagnation and into your full potential. The baby eagle will never learn to fly if the momma eagle does not disturb the nest.

Key’s To Flying

If you feel like you are falling, it is time to fly! God is using the adversity of your life to provoke your potential. There are three keys you must be willing to embrace if you are going to soar:

Key 1: Embrace the wonder.

Do not let what you do not know keep you from what you do know. You know it is time to make a move…but you do not know how or where or when…have you ever felt that way? Part of the faith journey is walking even when you are not certain of the next step. In 2 Corinthians 5:7, the apostle Paul told the Corinthian church “We walk by faith, not by sight.” Corrie Ten Boom powerfully said, “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” I am not suggesting participating in careless actions. Never make a life altering decision apart from prayer, the direction of the Holy Spirit, and the wisdom of your local pastor. Just don’t expect God to give you a detailed map before you start your journey or you might not ever start.

Key 2: Embrace the struggle.

Yes, the struggle is real. However, the same struggle that seems like a death sentence now is preparing you for your assignment. The free fall only last but a moment. Soon you are going to soar, but first you are going to have to struggle. I know that is not what you want to hear, and neither do I, but it is truth. The future will prove that your present struggle is really producing strength.

Key 3: Embrace the shaking.

Can I warn you of something I have learned in past seasons of stirring? When the nest gets stirred, people leave and situations change. For some people in your life, it is because they do not want anything disturbing their comfort. Then there are other people and situations that are only supposed to be in your life for a season. This can be hard to embrace, but let me tell you what the Lord once told me when I eloquently told Him (ok, I was whining) how upset I was about a situation that was changing. He said, “What remains is what really matters.”

The shaking is simply a purging. Without it you cannot ascend into your destiny. “Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully.” Psalms 24:3-4 NKJV

Time To Fly

If you are in that uncomfortable place where your nest is being stirred, do not give up. The struggle is strengthening you and soon you will soar. Just wait on the Lord! Remember the words of the prophet Isaiah as you continue moving forward, “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 NKJV. It is time to fly!
